As an owner of an Ebay store, I was switched to Ebay Payments two months ago; so far, I like it. The way it works is I don't know and don't care how the buyer pays; the money will come to my bank account. I also like that all fees are chraged at the time of payment now, and I am not hit with a huge bill once a month.Â
As an eBay seller I feel the same. Wary about eBay's Managed Payments at first - I moved my Handling Time to 10-days. Turns out there was nothing to be concerned about.
As a frequent eBay buyer, I still pay via PayPal. I've used PayPal since '00. I've had my personal eBay account since 1998.
@john-quilter You are correct. And then for years Ebay remained a client of PayPal. Then they realized they can make more money if they partner up with Adyen, a Dutch payment company. So they did. Adyen is a more traditional payment company working behind the scene, so a customer doesn't need to register there. Same as your local grocery store when you pay by plastic - you don't know how they process payments, and you don't care. Ebay became a Payment Facilitator, or, rather, an Aggregator.
My day time job is in payments... I can go for hours.
Haven't heard anything about this. I'm primarily an eBay buyer and Pay Pal has worked gr8 for many, many years with no issues in nearly 350 transactions. I don't have a PayPal credit card but I do have a low-limit Mastercard as a required back-up form of payment. These days, my payments are always made from my checking account ever since my retirement from collecting diecast models. 😉Â
@jack-dodds..the " help guy" may have been like I experienced many " young people", not all have oars in the water, nor " LISTEN"..Sign of the times.
I too, use Paypal tp make payments and to get paid for a sale. Never had any issues with PP. However, I do not have a CC with them. I have a re-loadable Visa card I use in conjunction with PP.
Ebay now requires a bank account to sent your money from a sale to. I was not about to give them my personal bank or FCU info, but as the Visa card I mentioned above is issued by a bank, I use that info, as there is never much on it unless I need to add funds for a payment right away.
On sales here in the US, ebay has to charge the appropriate state sales tax. One of the issues I do have with ebay's new 'system', is that when they charge for their fee for a sale, they take the fee on the total transaction. Item price, shipping and tax. It definitely take a chunk out of what one makes on a sale.
Finally, don't know about others, but it takes 3 business days for my money to get deposited in my account, unlike how funds showed up right away with PP.
