Mob Boss Gunned Down !

Mob kingpin Salvadore "Big Sal" Pizzerio was knocked off last night by two machine-gun toting assassins near East 42nd Street at the Grand Central Station terminal. The mob overlord had been driven to the station by his bodyguard to pick up Pizzerio's 22 year old "niece" who had arrived from Chicago on the 20th Century Limited and was going to be staying at his penthouse while Pizzerio's wife was away visiting family in Sicily.

Apparently, Pizzerio's bodyguard took the car keys with him, leaving the mobster to wait in his large Chrysler Windsor automobile as he entered the terminal to collect the niece. Police would like to question the driver and niece, but they both appear to have immediately boarded an overnight train for Miami, Florida.
A police spokesman told the Times-Post some of the details of the hit and indicated that Pizzerio had apparently seen two "musicians' carrying violin cases approaching the vehicle and correctly surmised they were going to play something on Thompson submachine guns rather than Stradivarius violins. Unable to drive away, he attempted to draw a .45 pistol as he leaped from the passenger side of the car.

However, he was completely outgunned by the two blazing machine guns pointed at him by the perpetrators and died on the spot with "at least" a dozen bullet holes in his body.

The exclusive Times-Post photograph was obtained from a second story window overlooking the crime scene.
A closed-casket funeral will be held the day after tomorrow for Mr. Pizzerio and already thousands of calls and letters have come in expressing deep sadness and concern over the injured Chrysler Windsor sedan, hoping for it's full and complete recovery.

My gosh, what a grizzly tale; Big Sal and his .45 were no match for a pair of Tommy guns.  Terribly sad too; the Chrysler was almost brand new.

It's a good thing Little Sal was away at boarding school. It will be interesting to see how he endures the challenges of stepping into his father's shoes. Rumor has it that there's a ruthless "businessman" hiding under that mild-mannered facade he wears. When told the news of the incident involving his father's brutal demise, his first remark was, "How much will it take for the Windsor to be fixed?"

Love the story, love the picture...but wouldn't a high-ranking mobster have a New Yorker rather than a Windsor? Wink

Lol Harv, I'll bet his other everyday used car is a Cadillac. And he definitely still used a slightly different Cadillac for the final time, too !

I think that Mr. Pizzerio was trying to fly under the radar with having the Windsor. I don't think he wanted to draw attention to himself but it didn't work this time.         RIP Mr. Pizzerio.
