Here is a 1949 Mercury coupe in red as done in1/43 by Universal Hobbies many years ago. The 1949 Mercury was a great-looking automobile and makes for a terrific replica in any scale.

And here is a black one which always reminded me of the car that James Dean drove in the movie Rebel Without a Cause with Natalie Wood and Sal Mineo, all of who died in early and untimely ways.

Great pictures all, but I think the '49 Mercury looks much better with fender skirts.

It's a great-looking automobile, so I like it either way, with or without fender skirts. Kind of like Continental kits, I feel a good car design can easily handle the existence or non-addition of the particular feature.
