PICs - From My Collection - '60 Imperial 1960 Imperial Crown Convertible & LeBaron Southampton Hardtop Sedan
These two models were recently issued by Great Lighting Models (convertible) and Kess Models (LeBaron Hdtp)
Both models were issued in January 2020.
The Convertible is a Limited Edition, #25 of 60. It is finished in Dusk Mauve.
The Lebaron Hardtop is also a Limited Edition, 1 of 150.

Model Comparison: My Thoughts...
The two models have some definite differences in the crafting.
The Convertible has a better shape to the grill and bumper, but the grill doesn't have the fine texture of the sedan.
Much of the trim on the Convertible is silver-painted, whereas the LeBaron is photo-etched.
The windshield & frame is better defined on the Lebaron, and the windshield is recessed when it shouldn't be on the Convertible.
The Convertible's rear bumper looks better, as the Lebaron's seems to be too thick (or wide) in appearance. Funny thing, I think the front bumper looks better on the sedan as far as the thickness goes, the convertible looks a bit thick.
There are a few other differences, but these are the most evident.
While no model is perfect, I think they both capture the elegance of the 1:1 very well. I am pleased to have both of them in my collection.
A couple 1:1 from my photo collection.

John, you have done a real service.......continue showing these two cars together. It really shows the overbite of the front end of the LeBaron. I think I'm more confused than ever, regarding purchasing this model I have the Convertible. Your comments are well taken, and I agree with nearly everything you say, except that front bumper, and grille shape. Thanks for your post.
Great comparison
I agree with your comments, John. I have both models as well. I think the tail fins are more accurately proportioned on the Kess sedan. But I am pleased with both models overall and I may buy another color of the convertible.
Thanks Ray. I do like the convertible much more. I ammended my comments slightly about the front bumper, the convertible overall look better, but it may just a bit too thick at the sides. The sedan looks better there, but the center is pitched all wrong, and the grill-well...

Great pics, John! Is your convertible Dawn Mauve? It looks Dusk Mauve in these pictures.

Yes, you are right. I have both of them, starting with photos of the other, finished with this one.
Sorry, my bad, I fixed it.

Thank you, John.
The comparison is not favorable to either model! I am convinced to buy the LeBron now, though. I guess once again the designers are working from pics of the real car and have not likely seen it in person.
Now where was it I saw that coin-op, drive thru 3D scanner the other day...
And surely you must have the earlier Ghia limo in black

No, this one is from GLM

Well, I started this thread so I ought to say something.
To be honest, I'm still undecided.
Both have obvious flaws - the grille on the GLM can only be described as coarse by their usual standards, the texture on the Kess looks much more refined, although the way the outer corners curve down from the headlamps to meet the bumper is a bit wrong, it should be more of a straight line, as on the GLM. (Just a small picky point that caught my eye.) The fit of the GLM windscreen/windshield glass looks bad, but large pics I've seen of the red version somehow seem to show a crisper frame and more flush-fitting glass. Don't know if they tidied things up with revised glazing on the red re-issue - that seems unlikely - or maybe the problem just shows up at a certain angle.
Kess under-emphasised the front bumper but exaggerated the rear bumper! Overall detailing looks crisper on the Kess, the GLM just looks a little "soft" to me although that may be the colour, the red version looks bolder and therefore sharper to the eye.
Of course, having said all that, we all have lots of models on our shelves which look absolutely right and convincing but if you photograph them in close-up you can always find incorrect details, so maybe I shouldn't fret too much.
On balance, my inclination is to go for the metallic blue Kess LeBaron (I'm in danger of having too many look-alike black Imperials) and if I want a convertible for a bit of variety the '62 by Neo doesn't look bad and would give a different model year into the bargain.
Thanks for a very detailed post.

Very good job John!!!
I have the Kess black sedan and in general terms I like it, I agree all of your comments. I also would like to have the GLM Convertible but this manufacturer only will offer in Europe a very boring red shape.. and I think to get one of the LE for the USA is going to be hard and expensive... so I'll wait for the moment. As always John, your pics are incredible.
