No problem Lou.
I'm in your camp John. I was never a fan of any of the previous
Brooklin boxes. I always got an uneasy feeling wrapping the models back in it's foam and hoping everything would fit back in without ripping the box or damaging the model. These new boxes look great and provide what appears to be a good amount of protection.
I intend to pass on these comments to Nigel, John.
Could the BCC find out what its members think? If there is sufficient negativity about the new boxes, and the increased price it seems to entail, then they might listen. What they don't seem to realise is, collecting model cars needs a different approach to selling jewellery, and above anything else, detachment from its customer base can be fatal. In my 30 odd years of being a dealer, albeit a small one, I find that personal communication with the customer is all important.
BCC AGM
When we meet for our AGM in October, Nigel has promised to be there and answer questions relating to the way forward of the company the new packaging and the impact on the increased pricing. I am sure our members will have plenty of comment. That is what a Club like ours should be about.
Nothing was said about the screw. Will it hold the heavy model when shaken in the mail?
"On one of my stock, the metal has sheared off, leaving the model to move around in the box."
This is what Mike said above, and I stated was my fear in a previous post on the box subject. Looks like it came to pass this once.
I think the Buick-style lift-off box is the way to go.
I don’t know if this a one off situation Harvey.
I have emailed Brooklin about it, and I shall follow up with a ?phone call on Monday. Watch this space.
Pics: Here's what I use to polish my Brooklins
These Crizal eyeglass polishing cloths not only clean the cars removing dust and finger prints, they polish the finish to a nice shine.

Ditto on the box being to ornate and most likely most of the price increase.
IMHO this box is more of an ego trip for the controlling interest of Brooklin truth be told. Also, I use a fine makeup brush for dusting. I'd never use a polishing cloth, not even a gold lettered one that could catch on hood ornaments, door handles, wipers, antennas etc. that could be broken off! I wish the good folks at Brooklin all the best in their efforts but hope that the controlling interest are listening to their base clientele on this box/cost matter.
Maybe just me, but for all of the pictures taken, I wish there had been one included of the model actually sitting in/on the box as it would appear when on display in the box. I was following along on the photograph essay to see that point and for all of the build up, that one photo was missing.
I realised that after I’d taken the photographs and posted them
Fret not Duncan. I will answer you plea tomorrow (Sunday).
