Also awaiting the Show Car...
and here is info on the 1:1...
Stamp did not include the spotlight, that is an annoying oversight for me.
@lloyd-mecca there is even more .....the chrome trim on top of the doors should not have these big ribs. This is a serious distraction.
I've always loved this bodystyle. Especially the hint for '58 rear styling.💯🤑
I'm definitely not a Cadillac expert (or even a great Cadillac enthusiast) but I was surprised by the very clumsy attempt to reproduce the door cappings with those big ribs.@lloyd-mecca there is even more .....the chrome trim on top of the doors should not have these big ribs. Most pics of the real car give the impression that those chrome cappings are smooth, but on closer inspection they have very, very fine ribbing. Nothing at all like the Stamp interpretation.
If they can do a very fine grille pattern with P/E I would have thought they could have done the applied door trim the same way?
Not an issue for me, of course, as I'm not in the market for one of these.

True, they are noticeably hideous, and that steering wheel is angled "way up there," but the overall look of the model, however, is spectacular. 👍 👍 🤓 Stamp nailed the stance, proportions, and wheels (although the tires are a bit too wide ).
Care to guess why Cadillac mandated those "door cappings?"
Well, I know that Cadillac fitted what they called "door flippers" above the doors, which flipped open automatically when a door was opened to stop rain dripping down into the car (because the car didn't have conventional drip rails to catch the water). But I don't know if there was some special reason (other than decoration) for the waistline cappings?
Not a piece of information that will change my life, but go on, tell us anyway.

It was perceived that owners of these beautiful Cadillacs could NOW place their arms "out the window" or rest them comfortably, on the door, without fear of scratching or damaging the paint. In short, those "door cappings" are paint protectors.
Incidentally, "door flippers" were not unique to Cadillac; GM designed those "across the board," but they only lasted a few years.
Well, thank goodness the paint was protected, but if the cappings had been like Stamp's version, Cadillac owners would have soon found themselves needing skin grafts to the lower arm and wrist.

True, very true.... but just think of all the cheese & potatoes that could be grated with little to no effort! 😏 😏
Big Ribs, or MacRibs? They do look a bit like this:
That pic made me hungry. Was gonna get a McRib @ McD but with the lawsuit they might not be on the menu anymore.
