From about the age 5 (1951), I was an avid bubble gum card collector. Back then, it was more than sports cards. There were series of wars, planes, Tarzan (in 3-D). two different sets of Disney's "Davy Crockett" and one of my favorites was Automobiles of the World. I knew nothing of cars but I just thought they were neat to look at. From Motorama concepts to arcane automobile marks to the weird ones. Makes like the Muntz Jet and the Nash-Healey looked so strange. One memorable car was the Cunningham C-3 with its huge chrome "C" trim on top of the hood. Eons later, thanks to the internet, I found out about this unusual machine built by Briggs Cunningham. Prior to this discovery, the only 'Cunningham' I was aware of was the fictional aircraft factory where Chester A Riley worked ("The Life of Riley" TV series). When Automodello came out with their C-3 models, it brought back memories. So now I know all about this 331 cid Chrysler hemi V8 powered sports car with body by Vignale. Now I look at that chromed trim and wonder if the driver wasn't occasionally blinded by the sun's reflection. Anyway here's the C-3 in tutone red. I'm still looking for the bubblegum card.
It sure looks great as a real car and as a model. Plus, it has a hemi !
Nice Dinky Toy Harv; I have it as well.
