Today, I unpacked my latest package from Diecast Direct.  One of the items is a 1954 Lincoln Capri in Premier Yellow and Black from Mini GT and TSM Models.  Like the all black one in a previous post from Mike DeTorrice (I think), this one is also nice with plated parts for bumpers, hubcaps, and hood ornament. Aluminum/silver paint seems to be used for other chrome items, such as window trim and side trim.  Here are some photos. The background is part of the drive-in restaurant on my train layout.

Compared to the black release, there's been a few improvements. Those funny little fender silver dots are now gone (good!) and the wheelcovers are brighter. The black interior still has buckets seats (bad!).  I'm waiting for the Road-Race version(s) but like this yellow too.

Do you know when the race version will be available?

@ed-davis I remember reading either right before Christmas '23 or early '24. Let's hope sooner rather than later. The sites continue to offer this on a "per-order"  basis only.

Very nice.  If only they weren't so small.

I will not spend big money on cars that are so small you need to use binoculars to look at them.  But to each their own.

I just received the yellow one. Not the scale I usually collect but I am thoroughly delighted in every way with the quality of this item! The packaging (including the little storage box!) and of course the car itself. I don't understand how such an impressive presentation can be offered at this price point! I will definitely be buying more from this series!

You wouldn't be spending "big money" on this one, George...it was $15 including the shipping and WELL worth it!

For a tiny model like this, $15 is too much for my pocketbook.  Sorry!  They are just too small (for my taste).

These seem to be getting better with each issue.  Yes they are small but the detail quality is very impressive and IMO the price is justified.  It is also nice to see this scale continue to improve so that collectors with limited display space can still be involved in this awesome hobby.

As a person who has a fairly significant Matchbox Toys collection from the 1950s and 60s I have an appreciation for the attractiveness of this scale of models; be it those simple early toys or the new, more accurate designs as per this thread.  I remain a 1:43 scale collector for the most part however.

@jack-dodds. I can relate to your reference to Matchbox Toys. In the late '50s and early '60s I had an extensive collection of Matchbox cars also. Although I don't usually buy 1/64 scale, the packaging and size of the "54 Lincoln bring back fond memories of those times. With the price of quality 1/43 Matrix/GLM resin models approaching $200 CDN including shipping, picking up a few of these highly detailed 1/64 models is refreshing and easy on the pocketbook. I continue my search.

Ed;

I have 2 questions to ask you pleaase:

In your opinion what other 1:64 scale models of the 40s thru 60s era compare in quality to the MINI GT '54 Lincoln?  It appears to me that this one is the only car of that era made by MINI GT thus far....is that correct
