This Lincoln Capri remained in the same family since purchased new in 1954. The owner was a person who owned Lincolns for his entire life! Owning a Lincoln had become a family tradition, as the owner’s grandparents owned a set of “his and Hers” 1935 Lincolns.
The Lincoln Capri became famous when one took first place in the Big Stock Car class of the 1954 Carrera Pan Americana Race, which began at the Mexico-Guatemala border and ended five days later. The Lincoln Capri covered 1,908 miles of flat-out racing at an average speed of 92.22 mph over a route that climbed 10,846 feet near Mexico City and extended hundreds of miles over mountains and Plateaus.

Simply said, they were BEAUTIFUL! Along with Mercury for 1954, only GM's Oldsmobile, Buick, and Cadillac were better looking that year to my eyes.

@georgeschire They really were. Most Lincoln buffs put the 1954 at the top of the pecking order for collectable 1952-'55 Lincolns. I was lucky enough to own two 1954 Capris (a 2-dr hardtop & sedan ) for many years. They road well, handled great, were comfortable & stylish!
And again, most don't realize that Lincoln had an automatic transmission, from '52-'54, that was garbage. For those 3 years Lincolns were factory equipped with GM Hydromatic transmissions...something that was NEVER advertised. 😏 😏
What a great-looking Lincoln ! Extremely nice car that still is alive and in existence.
A very attractive '54 in both hardtop and convertible configurations.

For those of you who do not regularly look at the 1/64 scale section of this forum, I just added photos of a yellow and black 1954 Lincoln Capri that looks nice. Chris Moroni added an all black one to my post.
