Here is another interesting car shown in 2022 at the Cobble Beach Concourse d’Elegance.

1981-83 DMC DeLorean

The DMC DeLorean is a rear-engine, two-seat sports car  manufactured and marketed by John DeLorean's Delorean Motor Company  in Belfast, Northern Ireland for the American market from 1981 until 1983—ultimately the only car brought to market by the fledgling company.

Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the DeLorean is noted for its gull wing doors and brushed stainless-steel outer body panels, as well as its lack of power and performance. Though its production was short-lived, the DeLorean became widely known after it was featured as the time machine the Back to the Future movies.

With the first production car completed on January 21, 1981, the design incorporated numerous minor revisions to the hood, wheels and interior before production ended in late December 1982, shortly after DMC filed for bankruptcy. Total production reached an estimated 9,000 units. For more details, see Wikipedia.

Cool design kind of resembles the Tesla Utility Truck.

I regret not purchasing the wonderful 1/18 Autoart  model years ago, however, I never really loved these cars - they always appeared too chunky, heavy, and uninspiring.

Great shots David.

Sunstar had a pretty nice model of it Chris. I sold mine to a couple that brought their DeLorean to the Garden Grove show one night. They had no idea that a model was available.

I never boarded the Delorean train. My first thought was nearly the same as John's - it is reminiscent of the dividing look of the Tesla Cybertruck. You either love it or hate it. I guess I'm in the middle - I don't hate it but I'm even farther than not loving it.

@perrone1 I truly believe that the Back to the Future  franchise has much to do with this car's popularity.   Had those movies never been made, IMO, DeLoreans would've been relegated to footnote status.  🤔 🤨

Oh, I absolutely stand by your belief! Dr. Emmett Brown was mindful that not just any car was capable of time travel. It had to be a car capable of 88 mph in a short space of time and dare we NOT forget the role the Flux Capacitor played in all this and the fact that the good doctor conceived of the idea on 11/5/1955!!

Cool

@perrone1 I lean toward the "I hate it" side myself.....thought it looked a bit comical.

I saw a video of an LS conversion on one of these. Plus numerous other mods to handle the power. It was a beast.

Yes, I recall that program too...it was on the Motor Trend channel. Gotta love the performance of the LS.
