'55 Mercury or Oldsmobile?

The '55 Mercury is my favorite Fifties Mercury. BUT, against the oozing with style and beauty OLDSMOBILE, sorry, my vote is OLDSMOBILE by a landside!

'54 to '56 Mercury is untouchable by anything GMC made, '57 was GM's year. In '55 I prefer the Chevy styling compared to Olds.

The rear color-breaks of the 56 Olds are far more cohesive and esthetically pleasing than the 55's, here, to my eye. I voted for the handsome Merc.

The Mercury just looks sportier than than the Olds but I do like the Olds color breaks

I much prefer the color breaks of the ninety eight series to that of the 88s. Having said that, I still pick the Olds by the closest of margins over the Merc for it's motor and dashboard.

Bob, I also prefer the color breaks on the 98 but I specifically chose the Super 88 in order to keep the price point more closer to that of the Mercury.I much prefer the color breaks of the ninety eight series to that of the 88s. Having said that, I still pick the Olds by the closest of margins over the Merc for it's motor and dashboard.

Mr. Jackman, you mentioned what I forgot to. The motor and especially the dashboard. The Oldsmobile's dashboard is a so nice to stare at, while the Mercury's is plain and bland.

I am going for the Oldsmobile but I would prefer a '98'. It was 1955, I was age 4, and went car shopping with the parents. I vividly remember that Oldsmobile dealership and parents bought two: a '98' Holiday two-door for him and a Starfire conv. for her. Both matching turquoise and white. Wonderful childhood road trip memories in these two cars.
