Wow......a gorgeous car; especially in those colors.  I never knew there had been a "Matador" back then.  I wish they had shown more of the interior.

Doesn't explain where the name came from. However AMC liked it enough to use it for a while 1971 to 1978 I believe.

@jkuvakas   John, the 1960 Dodge Matador shared the body of the slightly more well-appointed and luxurious Polara.   The trim differed, but it was essentially the same car.

The Matador and Polara were full-sized cars and were complemented by the slightly smaller Dodge Dart lineup.
