Why I love '61 FoMoCo:

61 Galaxie Black Sunliner (4)
61 Galaxie Black Sunliner (1)
61 Monterery (6) Copy
61 Monterery (3)

It was, indeed, a great looking car in 61. Even more so in that color combo.

Sorry, but I can't agree on a nice looking pair of FoMoCo cars for '61.  I thought the Ford was a huge disappointment, even more so than the '60 version.  And Mercury was also a disappoint, because it was back to looking like a Ford.  Even though the Mercury's from '57 through '60 were radical in styling, they were still "their own style".  FoMoCo ruined that in '61.

Wow!   I agree with you about Mercury....  but you really didn't care for the 1960 or '61 Fords?   Wow, I'm not sure I've ever heard criticism of either before.  😲 😲

I like the styling of these two cars very much; especially the Mercury.  IMHO the Ford improved even more in its styling that followed the next five years, as did Mercury, except for the '62 Merc.

@perrone1 Both of these cars really benefitted from the "chrome" inlay applied to the rear tail light area.

I like both especially because of the colors shown.

Yes, quite! I like the Ford slightly better than the Merc. The skirts? well they ARE removeable.
