You had to have been alive at the time (I was 8) to appreciate the enormity of the impact this tragedy had upon our Country.
My wife and I were surprised to see no mention of it aside from a one-line entry under "This Date in History" on Page 10 of today's newspaper.

@moe-parr I agree Barry, I wasn't alive back then... but I've seen/read countless accounts.
Not only was America shocked, but the world stood still - the events that followed were simply an incredible, riveting time in 20th century history.
....but yeah, with each year - fewer remember, and more forget. 😔 😔 😔
I hope the 9/11 attacks will not be forgotten.

Thanks for putting this up Chris. I remember the day well. I drove to our local hospital to visit a sick school friend and the news was on every radio and TV in the place. My buddy and I watched in disbelief.
And like so many others, days later, I watched Oswald shot by Jack Ruby 'live' on TV. 62 years. WOW.
I remember the day. I was a freshman in high school. I still remember what I was doing when I heard the news, I was in school walking up the stairs from the first floor to the second floor. Interesting that one remembers such details. There are other events from the past, some good and some not so good, which I also remember the details. Thanks for posting this reminder.

I was in high school, they just ran radio over the intercom all day. I was not watching tv Sunday so didn’t see that shooting.

I was in 7th grade and in a class when the assassination was announced on the school loudspeakers. Time did indeed stand still. I'll never forget the shock.
I hope the 9/11 attacks will not be forgotten.
...in many respects, it's already happening. Time marches on and memories fade - how many recall Pear Harbor, or V-E Day, or the moon landing? Practically no one mentions the end of WW I, or when McKinley was shot or Garfield was assassinated.
Time marches on and memories fade.... 😔 😔 😔
That's true enough. As people age, that eye witness account is closer to dying. I vividly recall the moon landing you mention. I was 22 in 1969 and my wife was pregnant with my daughter, Heather. She was born in September of 1969 and I wanted to record all I could so that she would see what just came before her. I video-recorded the television with what was a crude recorder back then and even took still photos of the tv screen. She was about 7 or 8 when she first comprehended it all.I hope the 9/11 attacks will not be forgotten.

Then years later when she was 32 in 2001, it was she who called me, to tell me of the plane crashing into the Twin Tower. She had been up in it a year before, during a work related meeting when she visited from Texas. She was terrified and together we watched the TV and the events that unfolded, including the second plane crash. Some things you can never forget. She and her husband were both killed in a car accident in 2003.

I'm so sorry to hear that Tony; some things you never get over - you just learn to live with it.
Tony, I recall that tragic chapter in your life. The D4C community was devastated when we heard the news. May they rest in peace.She and her husband were both killed in a car accident in 2003.

Thank you Chris and, perfectly said!
