You're not serious! We have two new Aldi nearby - I have never set foot inside. Are they seriously charging a quarter for the use of their cart? Hell; I'd steal 6 of them too!
With some of the technical expertise available on these pages, these would make pretty hairy go-carts I reckon.
@charles-rockett You're quite right Charles....the "Red Green" influence is very evident in this forum. Ain't nuthin' can't
be fixed/created with the application of a little duct tape.
Go Karts? Let's go one better. Here in East Tennessee, we have a Food City grocery chain. They have several iterations of V-8 automobile engine powered GIANT grocery carts. Every so often they appear at local stores for various events. With some of the technical expertise available on these pages, these would make pretty hairy go-carts I reckon.
@perrone1 And I thought the 25 C. go-cart might suffer from the high centre of gravity, on fast bends!
@perrone1 Tony, you get your quarter back, when you return the cart to the cart holding station.
We've a few Aldi's here in SoCal. They have a great selection of groceries at very good prices.

@perrone1 Tony we had one open near us about a year ago and I too have never been inside. The only time I'm in a grocery store is if my wife needs something and can't get there herself. On the occasions I'm sent to the store I go to the same one because I pretty much know my way around there.
@perrone1, it's more of a way to get you to return the cart to the front of the store. You can't get your quarter back unless the cart is back in the rack.

As has been mentioned, one gets the quarter back when you bring back the cart to the line up at the store entrance. It helps prevent theft and carts blocking and hitting automobiles in the parking lot.
One of my niece's works at a local store and they sure have excellent deals, so it is a big help for those of us trying to save money on groceries, etc.
Really? Pretty smart I guess. They want you to put the cart back in place, tightly enough so the mechanism returns your coin. Phooey. At my age, I do not want to wrestle unwieldy carts out of and back into place. I want to just return them to the various cart corals located nearby my car. Besides, I never carry money.@perrone1 Tony, you get your quarter back, when you return the cart to the cart holding station.

Yep, I reasoned that out before I saw your post John; when answering John Napoli. And as you and Mike point out, it gets the cart back where they want it and they save money on an over abundance of cart boys.
At our store, the carts are inside and warm in winter/cool in summer. The personnel take the items out of my cart and put them on the conveyor so I don't have to bend down and over to retrieve them and I don't have to bag them. I had to do all of that at our huge Kroger; but no more since I'm back at Food City. Once outside and groceries are placed in the car, my cart coral is always just across from MY parking spot. What makes it my parking spot you ask? I am ALWAYS the first one in the store at opening time!!
