ICONIC! Is it true that the old time singer named Chubby, invented them? I personally don't have a use for the Checker  -  I'm a long-time Chess player instead. LOL!

Great 'Something Different' Choice today John - thank you sir!

I can never see this classic '60s Checker without thinking of the 1961 design proposal for GAZ 13 Chaika remodel.

It's interesting that Checker styling always seemed to be roughly one decade behind the current automobile styling.

I lived in Manhattan for 35 years, and I remember the Marathon well. We used to try to flag one down instead of its competitors because they were so cool. Of course, we usually were on the subway or on foot in those salad days. By the time we had a little money they were gone.

Retired in Dunedin, Florida.

I have the 1/43 scale 1940 Model A by Automodello. Great model. Love the pictures John. Years ago when my job required me being in NYC every six weeks, I always welcomed the Marathons because of their roominess. Crown Victorias are nice cars but the rear seat leg room just doesn't cover it.

As a kid growing up on the Lower East Side, I recall A4s cruising for fares and later in life I rode in Marathons. The other models are well before my time.
