GREAT photo. That was so true back then. And, know what? STILL true right now!
What a great photo - I love it! Do modern tires even have sidewalls? Most that I see are rubber-bands, unless it's a truck. 😔 😔
@chris My 55 Imperial has 3 1/2 inch whitewalls, the 61 Vette has 2/14 inch whitewalls and the 63 Thunderbird has 1 inch whitewalls. All three must have them sparkling when they go to a show. Even though my Crown Victoria and Nissan Murano have black wall tires, I make sure they are spotless when I wash the vehicles. The Murano has the low profile side walls which I dislike because they make the vehicle ride very rough. Years ago the side walls flexed and were a part of the suspension...today not so much.
@bob-jackman Agree on all fronts! I always kept ALL my correct size whitewalls clean.
I STILL kick myself for NOT ordering MRC (Magnetic Ride Control ) on my "big & little" ATS coupe (with run-flats ). The car has "suspension options" that I mistakenly believed would be good enough. WRONG! Smooth road surfaces are wonderful, but ANY bump or uneven payment - and the ride can be punishing! 😩 😵
