Both are exceptionally beautiful automobiles ! They each look great as convertibles. That Packard hood scoop and the powerful straight eight engine were neat features and the Buick V-8 and that superb "growling" front grille were unmistakable items, too.
The Buick is like the prom queen. Always pretty and dressed to the nines; sometimes pushing the envelope and showing off, just a little. The Packard is a frumpy female, recently lost weight and went to contacts instead of glasses. She looks much better but will she stay the course?
Going with Buick - I like to dance!
Packard please John. I am not a Buick fan.
I'll take the rakish Buick.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
The Buick just looks like it can eat the road and spit it out and still look classy. The Packard almost looks like it is afraid of the road which is to bad.
No interest. That Buick has the saddest looking face.
To me, both of these cars were far better the prior year. I have never like the Packard grills in these series of cars but I did like the full radiused rear wheel wells in 53 versus the 54. As to the Buick,...I can't say enough about what they did to the beautiful 53 Skylark to destroy its good looks with gimmicky features. Oh and Tony, you'll not have me challenging you asking for a dance with your Buick, in fact, I have decided not to go to the Prom as the queen was obviously picked for her IQ not her looks. For the first time I'm voting no interest.
I couldn’t vote Packard fast enough. I’ve always thought the 54 Skylark was ugly, especially after the gorgeous 53.

I am a huge fan of the '53 Buick but the '54 underbite grille, wheel arch radius and tail lights don't compare; it just doesn't do much for me. Packard gets the nod today.
No interest at all in these two. '54 I would have bought a Mercury.
Buick, l never liked the front end of that period of Packard.
If the Buick didn't have those hideous looking wheel cut-outs and the tacked on (OMG, we forgot them) taillights, it would get my vote over the bulbous outdated stodgy looking Packard.
But because of those wheel cut-outs and tacked on taillights, I'll take the PACKARD!
