For those of you who want to read more about this, I recommend the book “A Higher Call” by Adam Makos with Larry Alexander. Though the main part of this story is the encounter of the B-17 piloted by Charlie Brown and the BF-109 piloted by Frank Stigler on December 20, 1943, there is a lot of background information about the German Air Force.

Thanks John (and Ed ) what a wonderful story. I suspect for every ONE we hear like this, there are several we'll never know about.  Will there ever be world-wide peace?
