@moe-parr See....that's exactly what I said about these (your ) Buicks weeks ago on another thread. You ARE in good company; IMO, Buick Envistas are nicely styled AND fit right in with higher-priced premium sport-back SUVs. It's a very nice vehicle. 😎 😎

It wouldn't be the first time.... 😀 😆 🤣

Most minivans were/are built on mid-size Front Wheel Drive car platforms. Some CUVs are now made from platforms like that. But SUVs are typically built on full-size truck platforms, many of which are body-on-frame, particularly the full-size ones like the Escalade, Expedition, and Armada. It was no coincidence that station wagons faded quickly once minivans hit the market in the mid-eighties. Minivans were seen as better, more economical, more comfortable alternatives than the noisy, hard-to-heat/cool, gas-eating wagons. I was selling cars back then. Once the minivans came, it became hard to sell a station wagon. They were thirsty, less space efficient, and harder to get in and out of (particularly for moms with little ones). Minivans dominated the market until SUVs/CUVs became refined in the early nineties (remember the original Explorer?). They were the best combination of wagons and minivans, and they offered AWD.

Yepper-pepper! I still recall seeing the first ones as Iacocca was saying, "Moms just love them - we're selling every one we can build!" I was in shock! "What the **** is this thing? People are actually buying these?" ....little did I know. 🙄 🙄 I scoffed at Lincoln's first Navigators too.... "Lincoln's trying to sell trucks?" 🙄 🙄 🙄
Well, I realize that if people buy them, they will be produced. But I for one will forever be thankful that I grew up in an era that made owning and driving a car fun! These SUV's and trucks today are not fun to own and even less fun to drive.
