REAL QUICK: This is a pet-peeve of MINE! 😡 😡
In 27 years, about 30 sellers have neglected to LEAVE ME positive feedback despite FRIENDLY reminders and even AFTER I left excellent feedback for them.
Q: How many positive feedbacks have YOU lost out on BECAUSE sellers simply failed to leave YOU feedback?
Pet peeve for me too! I have been on eBay since the beginning, and I have lost out on maybe 10 transactions. It does not happen often and I don't even look for it anymore, but I always leave it. What bothers me is the constant drumbeat to leave feedback (both sides of transaction) and folks still do not do it.
As far as eBay, their policy indicates it is always "voluntary".
I am quick to leave feedback when I am buying, but people I have sold do not always give feedback, positive or negative. Even though I have a 100% rating. But I would say 35% of my sales do not get feedback even asking numerous times to please leave it.
Agreed; one of my peeves as well. A 100% feedback since 1998. As a seller, as soon as the money is in, positive feedback is given. As a buyer, as soon as the item is received, feedback is given unless there is an issue. As soon as resolved, positive feedback given. But I'd guesstimate that I have been due another 200 or so feedback that people were too lazy to do or just did not know how.
It happens rarely for me. I've been on eBay since 1996. I've probably only had a handful of times that I didn't receive feedback.
As a seller I normally leave feedback upon shipping, with 2 exceptions.
1. The buyer never leaves feedback for any transaction.
2. The buyer has 0 or very low feedback as they can be troublesome to deal with.

exactly as described, carefully and securely packed, very quick ship by seller, all 5 stars, thank you. Ebay global shipping absolutely hopeless, took 3 weeks and countless handling stops. For Gods sake ebay drop it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent model, arrived with slight repairable damage, CAUSED BY EBAY GLOBAL SHIPPING, NOT THE SELLER!!!! Model handled multiple times at numerous and way excessive forwarding locations. Something has to be done about this!! Great communication from seller. Do not hesitate to buy.

Speaking of feedback I noticed this new(?) eBay policy less than a year ago. It's possible this has been around longer but that's when I noticed it. I was researching a seller's feedback as many here do. Here's another reason to do so.

I mention this because the automatic feedback policy can distort a seller's positive feedback rating posted by the actual buyers. The seller I was researching has 288 automated feedback from eBay out of 577 positive feedback received. They read as follows:

Order delivered on time with no issues eBay automated feedback
I imagine the wording could be different but always from eBay automated feedback, not the buyer.
*As copied from eBay's website. eBay automated feedback is automatically added to the seller’s account when a transaction is successfully completed. This positive feedback gives other eBay users confidence in this seller and in our marketplace. We only do this if the following criteria are met:
- You didn't leave feedback within 7 days of delivery (as confirmed by tracking)
- We can’t see any indication of an issue with the transaction
- Tracking shows the item was delivered on time
Automated feedback from eBay will remain visible unless there is an indication that there was an issue with the transaction, for example the item was damaged or you opened a return. If this happens, we will remove the automated message.
You can still leave your own feedback within 60 days of delivery, in which case the automated feedback will be replaced with yours.
