Sir Isaac was the original nerd; I'll bet he struggled to make time with the chicks. Just spelling calculus is bad enough....never mind actually creating it.
Was it differential or integral?
Ah yes, calculus, a subject I struggled with in school and have never found the need to use since.
Tricky stuff, calculus, but I understand Newton used an Apple to help with his calculations. "It helps me deal with very difficult and umpleasant Jobs", he reportedly said once - a comment which may not have have been entirely PC.

Integral of course Steve; this was developed before cars so there were no differentials to apply it to.

I struggle with Sir Isaac's claim on this one quite frankly. I mean...the guy claimed to be an academic; what would he have known about developing thick, hardened skin from doing a real man's work every day?
@jack-dodds, those writing quills are not easy to handle!

You're thinking of "calluses". A "calculus" is a kidney stone, and apparently he suffered from those as well, so his claim stands.
Incidentally, despite his scientific skills, he didn't take any personal action to remedy his abdominal condition. Unlike this chap . . .

What did he know about rear axles way back when.... ?

Well if what you are saying is true then no wonder they say it's a hard thing to pass .
That Russian doctor had a lot of guts IMO.

Quite write JK; the tips wore out easily and the feather tip tended to get up the writer's nose at times. These Indians were the first to experience this which is why when this group were hired by MGM to write segments of Western movie scripts from the Indian perspective they always carried spares. As an aside; their first three months earnings apparently were garnisheed and so sent by the studio directly to the Vancouver Holiday Inn to pay an outstanding bar tab from a previous visit.

Soooo...you're saying Isaac knew irascible Steve? Are we talking time travel here? You're quite right about Isaac's success with an apple; so much so that one was named after him....the Newton Apple. He also was an adept cookie baker and created one variety using fig filler.....but that's another story.
