Yes, the same time travel that brought us that delightful original photograph of Leonardo and his sitter. I just assumed you would know that Albert Einstein invented it as a way of visiting his relatives across the centuries (which is why he called it relativistic time travel) but I forgot that those NSA creeps in their cosy little offices in Area 51 have kept our transatlantic cousins in the dark about advanced technologies of this kind.

And speaking of relative time, I have only recently realised that since my leafy South London suburb is located some 7 miles west of Greenwich (London is a big place), my time advantage over our North American colonies is actually 24.228 seconds less than I had always assumed. Needless to say this discovery has caused me some considerably anxiety. I will need to remain constantly on the alert and sharpen up my response times if my advantage is not to be eroded.

Balham to Greenwich

No, of course I’m not making this up. There are 60 (seconds per minute) X 60 (minutes per hour) X 24 hours = 86,400 seconds in a day. The circumference of the Earth at the equator is 24,901 miles. Dividing the first figure by the second gives 3.46974 seconds time difference per mile travelled east or west.

OK, OK, I know the rotation time of the Earth is actually 23 hours and 56 minutes. If you want to fire up your Cray and fine-tune the figures, feel free. You'll still never catch me.

@graeme-ogg I found this information very interesting Graeme and of course quite simple to understand, given my 79.5 IQ (Imperial...not Metric measurement).

I think I said something a little while back about the intellectual smugness of Mensa folks, and I'm getting a sense of a certain desperation on your part to radiate the same quietly confident air of "Do you people realise just how SMART I am?"

And goodness knows, none of us here would ever wish to discourage your aspirations, especially when you are getting so very, very close. Only another 50.5 percentage points to go and you're sitting with the big boys at the top table. (Oh yes, even some of us mere reptilians know that "mensa" is Latin for "table").

@graeme-ogg Thanks Graeme; your support is appreciated and is a terrific motivational tool as I push through these last few points to achieve the inevitable Mensa fellowship.  I'll drop your name when I do my acceptance speech...one good turn deserves another...hey?....know what I mean?....Mensa brother.....could be, could be!

One small correction to your narrative if I may Graeme........you refer to "certain desperation on your part to radiate the same quietly confident air"...etc. Truth be known one does not need to attempt to "radiate" such an air because, as I hope you are able to appreciate, when an individual (like me) reaches the enlightened level of 79.5  IQ (Imperial) (like me) an involuntary essence of intelligence is exuded....an aura to be precise.  I believe it is based in a change in chemistry that occurs in the human enlightened brain; something that is far above the understanding of our so-called modern medical science.  Submitted  for clarification in the same spirit in which this subject was earlier communicated.

So where do I stand at 75.9 Imperial not Metric...

I'm not sure I'm smart enough to figure it out...

Please help is requested...

Only someone with a 79.5 IQ (Imperial) can fully appreciate the magnitude of that achievement. You, Jack, are an inspiration and role model, however unattainable, for us all.

Graeme has resolutely avoided the subject of your leaky eyes.

Well that may be but, in fairness to his culture, most male residents of the AGMT, like Graeme, are not prone to discuss or display such emotion.

While we are on the subject of the AGMT I would like to give a shout out and congratulations to Graeme Ogg for having his estate "Red Star" included in the "AGMT Residences of Note" section of the London and Southlands Weekly Report and Tesco Flyer.  Well done Graeme!

So it is a kind of emergent property, and quite suddenly and unexpectedly "Jack, you're a dunce!" becomes "Jack! Your radiance!". How wonderful life can be at moments like that.

And you are quite right, modern science holds no explanation for this phenomenon, although a study of the literature of paranormal beliefs and delusional thinking might offer some insights.

Come to think of it I was never paid a royalty for the use of my 'radiant picture' in the lower middle row. Can I now sue for infringement rights ?

To tell the truth, my residence has gained a certain local notoriety for rather different reasons. Naturally I am contesting the local council's allegations and have supplied evidence that my plans for strategic reinforcement work involving high-grade balsa wood and body filler should alleviate any concerns about structural integrity going forward.
