I thought it would be hard to do any better than the original. This girl gives it a great shot.

Nicely done - and no embarrassing attempt to over-style in an attempt to seem different.

Nice mike, too!

Some songs/sounds just can't be beat. Period.

So...the best anyone can do is replicate the original artist. This chick is VERY close to Stevie Nicks, which of course, says alot!  Lanie sounds terrific!

Here's another example of when the original artist's voice must be duplicated or don't bother.   (That's why there's very few covers of Aretha Franklin songs.... if you can't sing/sound like her... don't bother! )

when I post a car pic or two, I try to find an audio accompaniment that seems (to me) to be supportive of the post......I always check for a good "cover" for it`s clarity and emotional push.......with today`s recording equipment, especially in acoustic versions.....the newer stuff has cleaner sound

for those of you who listen on a phone I Dont Know well, that`s another matter entirely

"cover" quality example:the 1:34 mark on this live version of Aretha Franklin`s "Chain of Fools"

That young lady can sing; she has a great voice.... but she's "cheating here."   She's dropped a key or two for her "comfortable range."   As noted, it's very difficult to cover Aretha.  IMO, this remains one of the best Chain of Fools  covers:

And since we're on the subject of one or two particular notes,  may I suggest this: Morgan James performing a soulful cover of Maroon 5's Maps. Please play forward to or listen up to 2:50 and beyond.   Now THAT'S a singer!  Few people on earth can do this!

"dropped a key" is beyond my understanding Chris...but I think I agree with you.....about a million years ago,I read about Linda Ronstadt`s vocal range.....and I acknowledge that among "covers" sometimes the performer cant achieve certain ranges that the original and famed performer could.........
