1954 MERCURY SUN VALLEY "The Jolly Green Giant" from Ford Motor Company
I've always been a fan of this Big M and in Green, it is perfect. Those taillights caught my eye as a kid and I've been crazy about them ever since.

I would give my first born child for a 1:24 scale model of this Mercury. It gives me Goose-Bumps!

George, it's a Sun Valley, not a Sunliner.
And thus the reason pencils have erasers. I knew it was a Sun Valley, but was thinking when I was sharing the photos how much better I liked its look over Ford's Sunliner. It's been corrected.

George..you got some ‘splaining to do!
Beautiful Merc by whatever name!
Nice reference to the "Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour", which came after "I Love Lucy" ended its series run.

A friend just bought a Sun Valley in green but the top on his is a pale green or yellow rather than white. The car is currently undergoing detailing from bumper to bumper. I absolutely love the dash boards in these Mercs. Thanks for the pictures George.
Reminds me of the...George..you got some ‘splaining to do!

From the www "Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz starred in MGM’s 1954 classic comedy “The Long, Long Trailer”, which featured a 1953 Mercury Monterey convertible (255cid 125hp V8). For the mountain scenes, a similar appearing 1953 Lincoln Capri convertible (317cid 205hp V8) was used to tow the 1953 Redman 36’ New Moon Trailer up the 9% grades on Whitney Portal Road in California. For all road scene exterior shots, a modified trailer was used - just the shell, no interiors (the drapes are always closed during the road scenes) to lessen the load on both cars. A dolly hitch was used in all scenes to support the weight of the front end of the trailer."

@bob-jackman Bob; I remember the '54 Mercury Sun Valley in Highland Green over Yosemite Yellow with Broomfield Green roof but have never seen one the reverse yellow over green like you mention. I do recall white over Broomfield Green though.
@bob-jackman I just checked and as you may know there are several green choices for this car. Perhaps your friend's car is a different shade of green than the one I mentioned.
those were the days when cars had nice colors.

You're so right! In modern day, we're practically back to Henry Ford's original declaration, "You can have any color you want, as long as it's Black". But then let's be honest, todays cars not only have limited color options, they're also as boring as watching your grass grow. They one style and it's called Ho-Hum.

@jack-dodds Jack, I just talked with my friend and you are correct. The bottom is Yosemite Yellow and the top is Broomfield Green. I had only seen the car briefly and had it backwards
