that it spoils the look of an otherwise decent looking car. I've always liked the shape of early 50's GM hardtops and decided to do some edits to see how it would look with less stuff on it. Also changed the exhaust tips. I just don't like tailpipe deflectors on any car at any time.
As found:
Massive rear end clean up and general dechroming:
Side trim and rear bumper work:
Rolled down the windows, modified side trim and rear bumper and changed the background:
I"m asking you, the jury, to rule on the success of the cleanup.
What say ye ?
Enjoy!
Personally I think that pic 2 but with the trunk handle/emblem left in place might be my preference.
I find some of your "cleanups" very successful but in this case, although I'm not in any way a fan of this car, I think the original detailing suits its ornate, baroque styling, and the cleanup looks kind of naked, although I appreciate you were aiming for a "Kleen Kustom" look.
Sorry about that. (I know how it feels to have a photo-edit get the thumbs-down!)

Huge fan of the body side clean-up and new chrome of Pic #3!! And while I agree that the massive rear chrome is too much, the new rear bumper has little personality. It needs a slight "Buick" touch of some kind.
As a custom, the last pic is excellent; but my favorite is still #3.
As found. I guess because I was around when these were on the streets, I remember them when they were new.
I like them all ! It is a 1951 Buick and that is enough for me to appreciate it.
