Here is my story of "The Bat" plus a short story of going to a car show, at the top of the article you will see where it says "read more" and the story will come up. Then click on "roll view" and then just scroll through the pictures.
After I got the Bat up to home in Garden Grove when I worked for Disneyland I decided to drive it up to Pomona for a car show. I got there late in the day and was told where to park. I didn't go prepaired so when the rain started I got into the back seat and froze all night. The Bat didn't have a heater in it because it wasn't needed in San Diego.
So by morning it was raining even harder and others began to leave so I decided to go to and headed home. Well it was a bad idea because as I got onto the freeway it was raining so hard I could hardly see the front of the car let alone any other cars. I was driving blind and couldn't even see enough to get off the freeway. Because of no heater there were also no defrosters so the windshield kept fogging up to make matters even worse. So I slid the drivers window open and drove with hy head out the window so I could see anything.
Well it was only by the grace of God that I did make it safely home and lesson learned. Always go prepaired and also make some defrosters. That was one very scary weekend.
My post of flash flood at car show #49897 just reminded me of this event.
ENJOY !!
Great story. Amazing amount of effort went into The Bat. Love the PICs with Frank wearing the.......
Zoot Suit. You're looking good too, posed with the car. Dick, thanks for sharing that with us.
