a model who's profile I've always liked but am completely put off by the excessive side trim treatment. So, I did some edits to minimize the side trim and to better present the cars pleasing shape.
As found, with some background glean up:
Minimized the side trim and rocker panel molding; removed the horizontal trim on the front fender:
Further minimized the rear fender trim panel; changed to later 8-lug wheels:
Removed the rear trim panel; extended the side trim; retained the 8-lug wheels:
I like the car much better with the side trim minimized. The overall presentation is much improved, to my eye.
What does your eye see?
Enjoy!
I like the final iteration. It reminds me of how tasteful the chrome is on the Chrysler 300B in 1956. I'd possibly take the side chrome and angle it up to meet the angle at the top of the taillight as its termination.

I have always loved the original design of this car and don't see the trim as excessive considering its era. My preference is original this time although I do like the look of pic#2 but add on the 8-lug wheels, which are awesome.
Instead of all that, just take the Chevy. And yes it does look better with your clean up.
As a collector car, I'd love to own it and I stand with Bob - As It Is.
So; now that I own a fine classic of the '58 Bonny - PLEASE give me "The Ed Glorius Special"!! If the car debuted that way, devoid of all its razz-ma-tazz, it would likely be a bigger hit that it already is.
I like the first EG iteration better.
