Poll: Which '49? (5/6/2025)

Yeah, you were cool in '49 if you had a shoebox Ford. But if you drove that '49 Merc - you were SMOKIN'!!!

Mercury here too. I love both, but it really has substance.

No comparison IMO. MERCURY!

I just went with a tie.  Two of my favorite Ford products from the late 40's.

As far as looks go I just can't pick one over the other; they are both awesome.  I will give the nod however  to the Mercury by a nose because of the Ford QC issues in '49.

Didn't care for the Ford until '51[Grill & tail lights]. So, today it is Mercury please.  And I do prefer the '51 Mercury rear view over the '49 - '50.  '49 - '50 I would have bought the Hudson but, '51 would have been either the Ford or the Mercury.

Been there, done that...don't you hate when that happens???

 

Hard choice and I do like both. I went with the Ford for a somewhat nimbler look and a sympathy for the underdog.

@perrone1 I much prefer the grille and tail light design of the '49 to that of the '51.
