I understand the question, but they are both extremes and I much prefer middle of the road plain. My bikes over the years:
1973 Triumph Trophy Trail 500

Hubless - although the generally used term, is not ideal, given the wheel does in fact have a hub around which the wheel rotates - it's just very big and fixed to one side, rather than centrally.
