Love the '58 but the '57 takes it out of the park even in that hideous color which, to my surprise, appears to be a factory color called "Accent Red."

I think that "red" desperately needs a white 2-tone to look decent.

@chris, your point is a good one. What's so radical about the designs of 1958 was that they came right after those of1957. Two extremes only a year apart!

...and then AGAIN in 1959.  Just compare a '57 Chevy to a '59.  (Again, I love then both, but WOW).  GM ruled the world in the 1950's...  "unlimited" resources manifest into new tooling EVERY 12 months! Something UNTHINKABLE today.  Being shiny, bright radical & bold, longer & lower was the name of the game throughout the 1950's.

So...yes, "two extremes only a year apart" was exciting (and radical) and very doable...   then, but not now. 😒

Yes, that Accent Red color was a factory color for on the '57.  I remember seeing on on the showroom floor of Osterburg Oldsmobile in South St. Paul in 1957.  Thus, my love for the '57.

You nailed it.  The different look and style to cars on an almost yearly basis back then, was what we all looked forward to.  When September and October came around each year, going to look at the NEW cars was something most of us looked forward to.  There was always something different, strange, odd, beautiful to look at.

The '57 by a mile.  Just don't like the '58's at all.

Ditto.

‘58 was a bad year for both Olds & Buick…

@terryslekar

In your opinion.  I belong to the Minnesota Oldsmobile Club and they '58 Oldsmobile's are very popular.  The sad thing about the '58 is that they were subject to rusting and few have survived.
