In my home state, our highway system crosses over water to connect communities throughout the San Juan Islands. Enjoyed a short trip this past week.

I've been on the Washington State Ferries many times; travelling from Sidney, B.C. to Anacortes Washington.  What a scenic trip!  The service has been discontinued since the pandemic unfortunately, but doesn't impact me personally as I have moved to central Alberta.

Cool pic! Reminiscent of the one in the movie, "Double Jeopardy".

I moved here to Tennessee, from Texas, 35 years ago. Back then and up until about 15 years ago, I had to make my calls across the state, crossing many rivers. It involved using a small ferry that routinely held between 4 to 6 cars or less, depending on if there was a truck included. I actually miss that. They were replaced by modern day bridges.

@perrone1 I have never been to Tennessee Tony but from the various comments and pics you have posted in recent years it sounds like a really lovely state.
