The '53 Lincoln's were really a looker that year. My Dad had one and thought it was cool that we were driving a Lincoln. It didn't matter that it was in 1965.

It's a nice car for sure but I never warmed up to the "plucked eyelash" look of the headlights. I prefer the following year myself.
Nice ad. I'm not a big fan of the '52 through '54 front end designs, either. To me, they just don't have that upscale, "fine" car look. Lincoln nailed it for '55, though, except for the lack of a wrap-around windshield. I do like the rear styling of all those years. As we know, Lincoln would then hit a smashing home run for 1956.
I liked the grille and headlight treatments on the 52 through 55 Lincoln's.

I agree with Bob. Lincoln looked like a dressed up Mercury IMO until that great '56.
Agree! From 1956 on, Lincoln had its own look and identity and that's what made them special. It was sad that Mercury got its own look from 1956 to 1960, and then went back to looking like a Ford again. No wonder Mercury was eventually laid to rest by Ford.

@georgeschire George; I always saw the Ford roots in the Mercury, save for 49 through 51, but I never saw it as looking like a Ford from 49 through the entire 60s.
'52 - '53 were nice enough and yes they did resemble the Mercury from that generation. Of course the '56 was a grand-slam.
