The '59 Chevrolet Impala made a statement!
The styling made you look at it, if for no other reason, because it was in your face different. Radical perhaps, but still a work of art bumper to bumper.
My very first car was a '59 Impala and I liked it for all these reasons.
You don't see many of these Chevy's today and that's a shame, because they were the expression of access in the fin and chrome era during a time when it was we all wanted in our cars.
Bigger, bolder, more out there in looks, it was all of that and more! In my opinion, one of the most beautiful Chevy's ever!

I liked it for similar reasons George, but mostly because it was bold and completely different styling. I liked the '60 a bit better though.

The only problem I had with the '60 was that it eliminated the "Cats Eyes" taillights that were so much a part of the draw to the '59. And the replacement "control panel" looking display of lights on the '60 seemed bland in comparison.

Allow me to save time.... I've ALWAYS loved the entire GM 1959 line up, period!
In order:
1) Cadillac!
2) Chevrolet
3) Buick
4 & 5) Pontiac & Oldsmobile - or - Oldsmobile & Pontiac.
@georgeschire I think one main reason that I preferred the '60 was that it reverted back to the triple taillight design commencing in '58....kind of a trademark for many years to come (except '66).

Each GM brand seemed to try and be "more in your face" than the other.
The entire line-up was a magical touch of artistry that before then and since, has never been able to make us see the future better than these cars did.
Sadly, they got us looking and then now in hindsight, we realize that we went from these beautiful sculptured machines to the bland boxes with wheels under them we see on our roadways today.
We were teased and then left so unfulfilled.

Yes indeed...'59 was a great year for GM; such a marked change from '58. I will join in and offer up my preferences in order...
Pontiac, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Buick, ..............................................................Cadillac. Lol. Sorry Chris.

I hear you about the "tradenarks". In fact, a couple of decades back, I delivered a Toastmasters speech on this very subject. I presented examples of what each brand of cars offered us with each new model, but always giving us the thing they were most noted for (i.e. Buick's portholes or Chevy's triple taillights that you mention). Those cars of the bygone era were so much fun to look forward to each year.

@georgeschire For sure George; I miss that late September rush of excitement seeing the new offerings at the local car dealerships.
"...Cadillac. Lol. Sorry Chris."
Trust me, I have enough '59 Caddy enthusiasm for both of us! HA! HA! 😀 😀 BTW: Here's GM 1959 line-up (including Corvette ) in 1/18.

My father and I would go downtown to the dealerships every year. The new car introductions took away some of the pain of going back to school!

My best friend's sister loves the 1959 Impala. I find a different photo to post to her every year for her birthday. I like it too.
