I’ve had the good fortune of winning $1,000,000 in my local lottery…unfortunately, the payout is $1 per year for a million years! Lucky me! 😵💫

And unfortunately I'll bet they take out 50 cents of that payment every year for income taxes....

@100ford2003…you got that right!

Well, I am also a pretty fortunate guy. Yesterday I got an e-mail from a very nice lady in Romania telling me that I have been randomly selected to win - would you believe - US$1,750,000.00 in a Powerball lottery and if I just give her my bank details and internet banking password she will take care of the money transfer to my account, to save me any hassle or delay. The only stupid thing is that when I tried replying my free AVG anti-virus software blocked me because the site was "potentially dangerous". My fault for being a cheapskate and not paying for a proper anti-virus that would be free of such spurious warning messages. Fortunately I have discovered how to unininstall it, so I can look forward to a dramatic transformation in my bank account any day now.
I know you will be happy at my good fortune. 4 dozen eggs? Hah! Soon I will have omelettes coming out of my ears.

@graeme-ogg, I can't believe you fell for that! You realize, perhaps too late, that it is not £1,750,000, but $1,750,000! and... your bank will probably charge you a £60 conversion fee.

I'm fine with dollars. Conversion fee? I think I can manage that. In fact I would happily pay it right now, except that when I go into online banking it keeps saying "Account inaccessible", so there is obviously some kind of overnight maintenance going on. I expect my kind Romanian lady will sort out any temporary administrative problem. I still have a dozen eggs in the fridge, so there's no rush.

@graeme-ogg It sounds like the same Romanian lady making the rounds here in Canada Graeme; is her name by chance Lotta Pilfrin? If it is you don't need to worry; she is so nice to talk to it overshadows the very slow delivery system she unfortunately has no control of in her country. Any idiot can see she is the real deal. You are right to use her service because she is a widow and has four young children to feed; you can feel good about that.
It's Georgina Caeuşescu. Writes very intelligently, sounds well-educated, probably from a respectable family background.
I am rationing those eggs, by the way. I am a very cautious soul in most areas of life but can be a bit careless about my intake of dietary fats.

Mmm, Omelettes & Shepherds Pie time for my lunch now !
Dietary fats aside, I've been contacted by Mr. Caeuşescu, who now resides in Nigeria. And, as usual, there are two sides to the story. This beleaguered soul has been abandoned by his wife who ran off with an itinerant gypsy knife sharpener taking half of his fortune with her, not to mention their entire set of kitchen knives plus a one-of-a-kind garden dwarf hand fashioned by the legendary Pierre Gasteau. To get back, he's giving the other half of his fortune away and I have been chosen as the lucky recipient. Afetr an unfortunate confusion on his end on the first wire, I have now twice forwarded to him the necessary funds to allow this transaction to be finalized.

@jkuvakas That must be Nicky C. His generosity in the face of such personal adversity is inspiring and it just shows us how wrong mainstream media can be. The garbage they printed about this poor soul is heartbreaking. Perhaps Graeme could send him some eggs.

And I'll be glad to cough up the money to send him some shepherd's pie via FedEx overnight delivery !
