Only a Canadian might get this:
Two American tourists were driving through Nova Scotia.
As they were approaching Shubenacadde (shoe-been-ack-id-dee), they started arguing about the pronunciation of the town's name.
They argued back and forth until they stopped for lunch. As they stood at the counter, one tourist asked the blonde employee,
"Before we order, could you please settle an argument for us?
Would you please pronounce where we are...ver-r-ry slo-o-owly?"
The waitress leaned over the counter and says,

Our Corvette club from the NY/NJ area, did a 9 day road trip to Nova Scotia a few years back. Drove on the Cabot Trail, breathtaking to say the least. Loved the people and the roads.

John; I lived in the little town of Bear River, Nova Scotia for several years as a young lad. It is a beautiful province where, in may areas, time has almost stood still. Sadly I never got to Cape Breton. My daughter toured the Cabot Trail a couple of years ago and loved it.

Jack.....you seem to have lived on both the extreme eastern tip of CA AND the extreme western tip.....and now you`ve gone to middle ground.....is there some rhyme or reason for these geographic extremes?

Yes there is JB. My father was a career Navy man so we did several transfers to both coasts. My folks ultimately decided to remain on the west coast because the weather was much nicer and there was much more career opportunity for us young'uns. I moved to Alberta upon retirement in order to live in a beautiful, peaceful lake environment with normal people around me. I had enough of the Woke folk, liberal minded naive bleeding hearts and protesters, drugs, crime, homeless, traffic, moronic city councils, etc, etc. (think of Portland, only smaller). My once amazing and quaint city changed so much in the past 2 decades that it is gone forever, so I decided my choice was to complain ad nauseum for the rest of my life or find a better way....which I sure did!
@jack-dodds a fine tale,well told....thanks Jack
