The president of Ford was recently asked if they planned a competitor for the Corvette. His answer was, "We don't need one. We have the Mustang."

Wow... Imma gonna have to take something to sleep tonight after watching that !!
👍
GTD vs ZR1. Yeah, I'd like to watch that unfold.
A lot of hype and a lot of noise...show me the finished product and the price tag.

I thought I read pricing will be in the mid $300,000 range.... I suspect they'll sell every one (if Ford hasn't already )

Just like the Ford GT...the price well exceeds that of the Corvette. That's the only way Ford could compete with the Corvette.

Not from the factory. Prices for the ZR1 have not yet been announced...speculation has it under $200KThat's the only way Ford could compete with the Corvette.
There are $300K + Corvettes too...

High-end pricing for ZR1 Vetts is $250K -$300K, low-end is about half this.
speculation has it under $200K
"Lower trims" only. GM-Chevrolet marketing understands dealer demand will "affect" pricing, therefore MSRP strategy reflects that. Initial mark-up will be high, interestingly though, GM has announced they intend to sell as many ZR1s as demand dictates (saturation, of course, could decrease values ).

Wait and see what GM says about ZR1 pricing.

Have to consider the dealer 'tack on' as well on any new high-demand, low number production cars. I bought a new Z06 when they first were made (for the C5 production. The nomenclature dates back originally to the 1963 model year) and the dealer wanted a fat premium on top of the sticker price.
It'll be interesting to see what a 815 HP Ford will do with the ZR1 and its 1064 ponies. I guess gearing and weight will have much to do with it but Ford is setting its initial sights on the Nurburgring for their goal-reaching. Corvette; maybe much the same if it is like past endeavors.
Ford is looking at FIA GT3 specification with this new car and naming it after the GTD class.
this is the Corvette trim level I can afford....
Must be nice to be able to acquire a junk-yard FULL of Corvettes Jack, with one stroke of a pen. Lucky you! Keep us posted on your project(s). 😎 😀 😎
