[Closed] NASCAR on Sunday

You maybe able one day to watch the NASCAR equivalent of Formula E.

I tried to watch it too. All of the things that make it interesting were not present. I can't imagine how this expensive sport can continue the way it was presented yesterday.

I'm sure even the drivers were bored.

I missed it Rand & Frank; what in particular did you find made it a bore?

I was going to watch it, but couldn't bring myself to do it. Part of watching sports, any sport that has a crowd, is the crowd interaction. I'm not a big baseball fan but I do watch a couple games a year. I can't imagine it would be the same playing in an empty stadium just takes to much away from America's pastime. The same goes for football or any other spectator sport. I hope they can find a way to bring back the crowds safely until a safe coronavirus vaccine is available to the masses.

I'm not a Nascar fan to begin with. Watching 40 cars go in a circle averaging 160 MPH, planning a pass 5 laps in advance and all running the same engines somehow doesn't excite me. I know I just really pissed off a million NASCAR fans, but I would rather attend a dirt track race.

As for the Darlington race, well, besides a bunch of race cars, comparably equipped with each driver having his foot in the radiator, bumper to bumper, all trying to scrape the banners off the wall in the same race line, competition caution pit stops where no one lost their position, caution flags for reasons that I somehow missed, no shots of the infield with all of the activity it was pretty exciting to watch the cars go into and out of the pits and see the reduced pit crews change tires.

Maybe the reason that I'm not enamoured with NASCAR racing is really because I attended one, very close to the front row, at PIR in Arizona, stupidly without noise blocking headphones and I literally lost my hearing in both ears. It took a couple of weeks before I could hear anything again. I now wear aids because of that experience, I'm convinced.

NASCAR faded for me many years ago with big $$$ teams controlling everything and drivers treated like rock stars. That and the cars not being stock in any respect whatsoever. I love the old racing footage from the 60s and 70s but I don't bother with it any longer.

I liked NASCAR when it was: Race it on Sunday, drive it on Monday.

Now it is all about the money....

If things keep up the virus way there soon won't be any money.
