It was basically built on the Chevy Nova body frame.
For decades, some Canadian Pontiacs looked a bit different than their American counterparts because by-laws at that time mandated a certain number of Canadian-built components. It became easier/cheaper for the OEMs to simply used Pontiac bodies with Chevrolet chassis occasionally resulting is some funky looking cars.
The best example of this is 1959 Canadian Pontiacs with Chevrolet chassis. Chevy, of course, had narrower wheel tracks than "wide track" Pontiacs. I'm all in favor of the proper "wheel tuck in look" found on 1950's cars - but this is ridiculous. 😬
If I recall the Canadian Pontiacs were equipped with Chevrolet six cylinder and V-8 engines. They were also available with the Chevrolet 2-speed Powerglide transmissions.
