There's no high tech Santa; they need to rein him in!
Wait until he tries to recharge over Mongolia. Thank goodness all my presents came by the USPS. SURE, half went to wrong addresses but most were in the same neighborhood.
HA! Even that EV cord seems outdated now.
My son just purchased a new "self-charging hybrid." It's not an EREV, or PHEV - but rather, the small "ICE" charges the batteries on the fly to develop 500–600 miles of range. Re-gen braking also adds range. There is no plug or cord.
Simply amazing!
He took delivery on Wednesday, has already racked up 695 miles (he drove across a few Sates ), still has about 220 miles of range left, BUT has spent just $7 on gas.
Simply amazing!

Hearty Congrats to young Mr. Moroni! Sounds like a great alternative to ICE / or EV cars. Who makes it? Would Electric Hybrid properly be the term for it Chris?
@jack-dodds I agree Jack. Some things don't need to change. Call it tradition but the cartoon is cute.
@chris The hybrid makes sense to anyone who makes trips. When I was on the road an all electric car did not make sense as I would have spent half my time charging my car. A friend recently bought a Ford Maverick pickup hybrid. He said he is getting 46 MPG around town.
1- "Who makes it? Would Electric Hybrid properly be the term for it?"
2- "The hybrid makes sense to anyone who makes trips."
1- It's a Subaru (the first foreign make in my family ). I understand why you ask that, because, LIKE YOU, what he was describing didn't make sense to me either - I kept "correcting him." BUT, Subaru calls this a "self-charging hybrid." 🙄 🤔 🤨 And "young Mr. Moroni" is now 43. 😯
2- He travels frequently for work but rarely by land. He purchased this vehicle because he liked it most after test-driving about 9 other makes/models. The "self-charging hybrid" aspect really wasn't a consideration - it just happens to employ that technology.
I must say, I'm impressed; I'm unaware of any domestic make that can rival this.

YES! I'm impressed too. Subaru makes a fine car and this must be another of them. And, LOL, no desire to diminish your son's time achievements, but to me 43 is young, OH to be that age again!
