Each manufacturer had great styling years, some more than others, Lets do GMC across the entire line-up first, what in your opinion is their greatest styling years broke down by types of cars?
For my taste: '62, '64, '61, '57 were their best years full-size. '66, '65, '67 mid-size. '69 pony. '61 to '67 sports/Vettes. Compacts '65, '66.
I like their '65s full-size. I also like Ford and Chrysler in '65. Steve
For me, '65 was the home run for full size. I'll take '67-'68 for mid-size, '70 for pony, and '68-'72 for the Vette.

For me '55 was a major year for full size, '67 for mid-size, '63-67 for Vettes.

For me, 1955 to 1959 full-size cars from the Big Three were for the most part all home runs. I'd say that '58 and '59 was the best for GM overall.
1960, was the worst styling year for the Big Three (with the exception of Chrysler, Mercury, and Buick). For the rest of the '60 line-up it as was if they were trying to either out ugly one another or bore us to tears with bland cars. 1961, with the exception of Chevy, Plymouth, and Dodge were all beautiful, while the rest did nothing for me.
1962 GM across the board were of the charts gorgeous! Chrysler looked awful after its fins were plucked and Plymouth and Dodge looked like the result of drug trip gone bad.
After '62 with the exception of Oldsmobile and Chrysler for '63, the others were outdoing one another with creating land yachts, trying to convince bigger and longer was better.
From '68 through '72, I'm okay with the majority of the Muscle Cars that took over the roads.

GMs best full size styling years IMHO were 1955, '61 and '65. Mid-size was 1966, 67 and '69. Vette was '63 thru '67. 1969 for pony car. Compact was '64.
'68-'72 for the Vette
You speak my language John!
Before I bought my C5, I was looking for a '68-'72, but prices were too high for my bank account.
I could have bought 3 late C3's with what I paid for my C5 with the supercharger installed.
As far as favorite cars and years, I like the GM fastbacks from the '40's with pontoon quarter panels and fenders.
For me, style peaked in 1950 with the Buick and the biggest toothy grill to ever be put on an American car.
