One of my favorites. It's a beautiful car and should have been put into production. You can read most of the story here

@jkuvakas I agree John. One of a very few prototype cars that is actually beautiful and has sales appeal.

that is a stunning car and one I'd never heard of or seen. Love these sorts of taglines:

"Bizzarrini was ordered to destroy all six cars, which he, of course, did not. Instead several cars were finished, some lost, found, sold and lost again. It remains unclear today just how many survive."

this is a great series John, much appreciated

Absolutely beautiful automobile. Somewhat reminiscent of the Pantera.

I wondered about that - do you think that De Tomaso used any of the AMC's styling for his '71 - '92 cars?

@perrone1 This doesn't really answer your question, but according to an article on Weebly:

"The AMX/3 was designed in 1967 by AMC in Detroit under the AMX/K project, 1-2 years before the Pantera was designed in 1969 by the Italian design firm Ghia by designer Tom Tjaarda for De Tomaso. AMC sent the AMX/3 design to their Italian teams in 1968, long before Tom Tjaarda and Ghia started the Pantera for De Tomaso to replace the Mangusta."

So I suppose it's possible.

Excellent detective job Paul!  I think we can read between the lines here. Of the two, I think I like the AMC better!!

Several of the early seventies supercars were heavily influenced by the Miura. Its low, wide, long hood and fastback-like profile are alluring. The C3 Vette has the theme down pat.
