Harley Earl was amazing. I recently read "Fins", one of his biographies, and it was fascinating.

Retired in Dunedin, Florida.

A lot of styling cues made it onto later Buicks from that exceptional experimental. GREAT choice John - thanks!

I bet Buick is sorry today that they did not make that car.  It would have been ahead of the Corvette and T-Birds for 2 seaters and this is really sporty.

IMO, it just looks too big and bulky.

"Although somewhat similar in appearance to the Le Sabre, the XP-300's styling was noticeably cleaner than the more futuristic, rocket-inspired lines of its counterpart".

I agree. Would make a fabulous model car paired display. Thanks John.

When I was about 11 or 12 years old, I received one just like this for Christmas. It came with a jack and the wheels screwed off to fix a flat. I recall painting whitewalls on the tires.

Wow; such great memories! And, oh yeah, it needed whitewalls! Cool

The XP-300 was one of my favorite concept cars back in the fifties. Thanks for sharing that with us John.

Yep, I always thought that too.   It's nicely styled, I just don't care for it - but then again, that was the point, right?    These concepts were crafted, in part, to gage public reaction.

Yep!  That would've been the thing to do!  😎 😎
