I remember these vividly. A few were running around the streets of Youngstown. They were very expensive, and with a Hemi, not very streetable. The dealers found them nearly impossible to sell. Some resorted to changing the front end clip to a more conventional-looking GTX or Road Runner. There is probably no record of how many were converted. It's an irony of the collector car world that the cars no one wanted are now some of the most sought-after.

Very true. You can actually say that about the vaunted 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe as well. The owners of that one-year only car, complained about the vision obscuring center post and Corvette dropped it for 1964.
