What a difference a year makes! A world of difference from the ‘48 model year for both GM and Ford. I like Fords of this era but I prefer the ‘51’s face, the center bullet replaced with the double spinners. I’m going with the Chevy on this one.

Nothing against the 49-52 Chevy. They are my favorite GM model.  The Ford, though is my choice.

Although not a staunch fan of the 'shoebox' Ford, because, well, they look like shoeboxes; I have a vote in for it. Reason being, it made the pivotal change from the forties to the fifties, automobile style-wise. They lost the ponton fenders, not only front, but now the rear as well. Chevy went halfway but kept the' pontoon' look for the rear.

Although I also prefer the 1951 grille, the Ford wins.

@ed-glorius +1 plus the flat head V8 in the Ford.

I voted tie,  I can't really say I like one over the other. I love both.😁

In spite of its one year QC issues I much prefer the more modern look of the Ford.  The Chevy is a really nice looking car as well but looks dated in comparison plus the drive train can't compare to the Ford.

The smooth lines of the Ford, make this a clear winner.

Like them both, tie today.  Would have bought a Hudson in '50 if I were old enough and had the money.

'48 no interest either one

'50 tie

'51 would have been Ford

'52 would have been Chevy

For both style and performance, the Ford.

First car was a ‘49 Ford that belched out an oil cloud. Finally seized the engine.

voted Chevy because I like the curved windshield and the interior slightly better.

The family car was a '49 Chevrolet in the early '50s so nostalgia dictates my pick but loving the Ford too.

Gents, thanks for your replies.
