Ford. I love its proportions and its lines, and the twin bullet nose. I have most of the Brooklin models of this year.

I'm voting for the Mercury but it's a tough choice for me. I like both, and both being convertibles just makes the decision harder!

1 51 Ford Victoria

 Only mine was faded ['64 & '65].

Ford please, love them both, I did buy a well used '51 Ford. The Mercury rides like a big boat as I remember.

Ford gets the nod.  I liked the styling of the '49 Merc the best of its 3 year design.

I went with Ford.   I prefer the 49 Merc over the 51,

Swimming upstream, going against the current and the grain here. I vote Merc. The three-year Ford shoeboxes all look pretty much bullet-proof and, no denying it, this red one looks purposeful, clean and ready to rumble down the road.

But the Merc is different, sleek and capable. I like its rear quarters better than the Ford. MERC!

51 ford

I like the Ford as being the best of the three year run. The Mercury is equal to the 49 and 50 all of which are outstanding. Mercury all the way with it's beautiful grill and parking lights.

My birth year, so I always have to love these cars in hindsight.  I choose the MERCURY!  It's still wearing its 1949 styling very well and for me is loud statement of the times.

As for the Ford, I like the "one year only" two spinner Grill, but my problem with the looks of the car itself has always been the "wide at the front" and then getting "narrow at the rear".  It makes the front look bulbous and the entire car out of proportion.

So yes, MERCURY gets my vote today!

Not fond of either one, so I'll just stand over by the punch bowl, today.
