No interest here, both look equally dowdy. IMHO much post war mainstream styling was bulbous and dull. I guess it reflected the post war slump and sentiment. Some Packards, Cadillacs, and a few others had style, and the '48 Fleetwood and Hudson's Step-Down design set eventual trends, but stylists weren't unleashed till into the 50s. Then Boom! I wonder what happened in America right then to prompt the sudden loud mid 50s styling?
Mark; What about the all new 49 Ford and Mercury? Along with the ones you mentioned, I thought they represented a significant change in traditional 40s design.

You're right, I forgot those two style leaders! Their more modern proportions and airy greenhouses really stood out.
