My dad bought a new Pontiac Star Chief Custom in 1954 in Maize Yellow with factory A/C. It was a beautiful car with it's all leather interior. The car was totaled in an ice storm when it was only eight months old. Nostalgia has me voting for the Pontiac but the Mercury is iconic in it's Sun Valley trim.

While I like the Pontiac, I like the Mercury even more. Two very nice vehicles.

I really like both cars, they've always been favorites since I was a kid. But voting for one over the other, I lean towards the MERCURY. It is lower and more modern looking next to the stodgy more bulbous Pontiac.
