The Studebaker is very well styled and has a decent power train but there is just something about this era of Mercury ('52 thru '56) that does it for me. Merc gets the nod.
Studebaker is probably my favorite 50s American car, nice colors too
For me there is no comparison. In my mind they belong in two different classes. I like the Mercury but the sporty Studie does it for today. I would really like to ride in one.
First off John, congrats on another excellent 'Which' choice pick. And kudos on finding the two in like colors!
I love the Merc, always have. But it comes down to which one would I rather drive. That Starliner would be fun to be seen in, easy to park and enjoyable on a sunny Sunday afternoon jaunt. Studie.
They are both beautiful Fifties automobiles ! I have replicas in 1/18 and 1/43 of both Studebaker and Mercury cars from this era and each looks great on display or in photographs.
Studebaker. It's gorgeous.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
John, you are amazing in your ability to come up with these comparisons. This was a difficult decision for me as I really like both. In the end I vote for the Studebaker as it encompasses the most beautiful design not only for it's time but many years thereafter. Rarely does such a departure from the norm equate to marketing success, but this one did.
Jack nailed it for me as well.😊
Studebaker, a refreshing change in design direction from the stodgy early 50's cars.
Except for the Golden Hawk, I am not a fan of the Studes, so my vote is Mercury today.
Two very nice cars. The Mercury is great but I have to go with that gorgeous Starliner.

Love the Studebaker, but the Mercury is just too fine to take 2nd for me.
