Two cars, too large. BUT; although not my favorite autos, I'd love t own either. The Olds has the cleaner, smoother lines and styling to my eyes, hence my vote.
DeSoto for me. Still like the 2-tone paint and the fins are still good looking on the DeSoto.
Well matched! I'll take the Olds. I like the gold trim on the DeSoto, but I'm not sure I'd want to look at it every day.

Olds for me. To my eyes the DeSoto just doesn't look as good as the previous years.
DeSoto. Another favorite. I love the bold styling.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
An excellent comparison John. These two are very close for me but the Oldsmobile 2drht. styling is more appealing. If these were sedans the DeSoto would win.
DeSoto for me. But I have warmed to the 59 Olds over the years.
I don't care for either but I dislike the Olds less.
Two big, too extreme as expected for 1959. I prefer the DeSoto, John.
Both awesome cars, I like them both. I'm going with the DeSoto today. For me the '59 DeSoto make a better statement than the Olds.

Not fond of either one of them, but prefer the DeSoto, liked '55 to '59 styling. Would have bought a Dodge in '59.
I vote OLDSMOBILE today. It has a cleaner more modern look to my eyes. I like the DeSoto too, but for '59, the over-use of chrome was too much. I've said it often here, GM's '59's (especially) Pontiac, Oldsmobile, and Buick) were the most beautiful of anything else from the Big Three automakers.
